Metal rapid prototyping is a manufacturing technology that translates digital designs into solid three-dimensional objects. The object to be printed is first scanned, a CAD model is created, and the object design can be modified if necessary. A 3D CAD model of the final functional part is generated in the computer and then the model is "sliced" in layers of a certain thickness. The data is then converted into scan paths, CNC codes, and controlled forming systems that stack layer by layer in accordance with the shape information to form the final 3D solid part.
It can accept product design (CAD) data directly without preparing any molds, tools and tooling fixtures, and quickly manufacture prototypes, molds or models of new products. Rapid prototyping technology is mainly suitable for new product development, rapid single-piece and small batch parts manufacturing, complex shape parts manufacturing, mold and model design and manufacturing, also suitable for the manufacturing of difficult to process materials, shape design inspection, assembly inspection and rapid reverse engineering, etc.
Rapid prototype building can advance the optimization of the solution, and then improve the efficiency of communication
Prototyping a small part of the user test can help to find new problems, and then optimize the solution
Prototyping can effectively prevent designers from overlooking important elements and from making unreasonable and inaccurate assumptions
Prototyping can help prove the feasibility of the design and find better design opportunities
